Korean Minivan Crowned Ugliest Car on the Road Date Posted 10-13-2005 LONDON R12; It went on sale only a few months ago and already the Korean SsangYong Rodius minivan has won its first award. But it's not a prize the vehicle's maker is too keen on receiving, because the Rodius has been voted the ugliest car on the road in an online poll. According to votes logged by visitors to U.K. used-car Web site Cardata, the huge, seven-seat Rodius R12; designed by renowned British designer Ken Greenley R12; was the overwhelming winner. Twenty-nine percent of visitors said the huge but odd-shaped multipurpose vehicle was the ugliest car on the market. That was 10 percentage points ahead of its nearest rival. The Rodius hasn't made it to America yet, buy Chinese carmaker Shanghai Automotive now owns SsangYong, and it's only a matter of time before the company looks to export to the United States. Fiat's functional Multipla minivan came in second place, followed by Mercedes' huge Maybach limousine; the quirky Chrysler PT Cruiser, whose 1930s Chicago gangster-car looks provoke a love-it-or-hate-it reactoin; and the now-discontinued bug-eyed Ford Scorpio.
